Why ALMS Should Have A Lacrosse Team

Playing sports is something that allows kids to do stuff after school. Not only are sports fun, but there are many benefits that come along with it. One sport that Lewis doesn’t offer is lacrosse. There are many lacrosse players at Andrew Lewis that would love to have a lacrosse team.

One reason Lewis should have a lacrosse team is because playing for a school is not available until high school. Salem high school recently started a JV team meaning any eighth grader that plays was allowed to try out. But what about the sixth and seventh graders? Their only option is to play travel or wait until high school to play. There are lots of students who go to Andrew Lewis who play lacrosse and would love to have a lacrosse team for the middle school. Having a middle school lacrosse team would also help the high school lacrosse team in many ways. The high school team wouldn’t have to go over the fundamentals with kids because they would already have learned them from the middle school team.

Another reason we should have a lacrosse team is because there are lots of benefits to providing kids opportunities to be active. Some of the benefits are discipline, teaching kids to work together, keeps kids active, helps them gain confidence, and skill. Lacrosse is also a great way to build friendships and make new friends. All of these things are great things to learn while you are young.

The final reason Lewis should have a lacrosse team is because travel can get in the way if you are involved with other sports and can also be very expensive. It can be hard to balance playing school sports and a travel sport. Travel sports also tend to be very expensive. It can be hard to afford to play for a travel team and pay for all the equipment used for lacrosse.

Andrew Lewis should have a lacrosse team because of all the reasons mentioned above and many more. Not only would it be fun, it would also teach lots of valuable lessons.
