The Gym

The gym. In my opinion the gym is a good place to go when I want to get away from everything. Going to the gym has both mental and physical health benefits. As of right now not many people go to the gym and I think more people should go to the gym because it’s a good way to escape from reality. 

 

Why don’t people want to go to the gym? One of the biggest reasons people feel intimidated by the gym is because they think they dont look “right”. Meaning they dont look like they exercise regularly. While these feelings are valid it’s important to remember that we all start somewhere. Being uncomfortable at the gym is completely normal.  This can occur for many reasons: poor body image, the fear that comes from having been away for too long, or low energy levels and motivation from a lack of exercise over a long period of time. People nowadays are too lazy to go to the gym, and I think people should work out more because I think it makes you feel better about yourself.

 

Going to the gym is a good thing, people shouldn’t be scared to go to the gym and express themselves.  Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier, more relaxed and less anxious. You may also feel better about your appearance and yourself when you exercise regularly, which can boost your confidence and improve your self-esteem. Here are some fact based benefits of exercising at a gym: 

 

  1. You get a wider range of equipment
  2. Better exercise with better equipment
  3. You can ask for help if your not sure on what you should do
  4. You can do group training classes
  5. It’s a good place to meet new people 
  6. It gives you more motivation
  7. You can workout by yourself or with others

 

Regular physical activity can improve your muscle strength and boost your endurance. Exercise delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work more efficiently. And when your heart and lung health improve, you have more energy to tackle daily chores. You may also feel better about your appearance and yourself when you exercise regularly, which can boost your confidence and improve your self-esteem. Regular physical activity can help you fall asleep faster, get better sleep and deepen your sleep. Just don’t exercise too close to bedtime, or you may be too energized to go to sleep. 

 

People also don’t like going to the gym because they can’t get ¨motivated¨ to do it. It’s not you that can’t, it’s your brain telling you, you can always get motivated with the right mind set. Things that help me are putting in my airpods and listening to music as I warm up for my workout. I also tell myself you can get the body you want if you work for it. It’s always good to have a gym buddy to also help you get motivated and you can also feel more comfortable with them.
