Do You Perform Better When You’re Competing or When You’re Collaborating?

Just by looking at the two words, competing and collaborating, you can tell there is a clear difference. Collaborating means to work jointly on an activity, especially to produce or create something. While competing means striving against one another to gain or win something. Many say competition is good for your performance level, while others say competition is bad or destructive. But collaborating is only for some people. Many say they don’t care to work with others and prefer to work alone. People like knowing that everything is right and done the way they want it to be done. This can only happen though if you are working alone. Lots of athletes and people who like competition would prefer competing rather than collaborating. Although a majority of athletes play team sports, they are typically very competitive but that doesn’t mean they can’t enjoy collaborating and working together with others.

Competition is typically the way to go for most people. Lots of people are competitive and like to compete against other people. But competition isn’t always good. It is also known to be backstabbing and distrusting. Competition can put a lot of stress on one person to get something done or to beat others. Many people like athletes enjoy competing. Even though many sports are team sports and involve collaborating, many enjoy competing for the satisfaction of winning. But it’s not just athletes that like competing, many other people enjoy it for the same reason, the satisfaction of winning or beating someone. Competition is a great way to get something done or accomplished. Many people like competition over collaborating because they know when they work alone that whatever they are working on is going to be done right and the way they want it to be. The competition also helps push people to have something done faster or better.

Collaborating is another great way to work. Many people like collaborating because it takes the stress off of them and they have other people to ask for help when needed. Many people enjoy collaborating because they like working with others. Although collaborating isn’t always the way to go for some people. Many people don’t like collaborating or working with others because they like knowing that what they are working on is going to be done right and the way they want it to be completed.

Many people enjoy both competing and collaborating.  They work better when working with others but at the same time competing against others. But some people don’t like collaborating because they feel that others try to take control of the group and don’t give everyone an equal part. Sometimes people just don’t like to work with others and would prefer to work alone. Some people like working with both. Many athletes collaborate and compete. They enjoy it because they get to work together as a team to get something done or to win or beat someone.

In the end, it’s good to compete and collaborate to accomplish a goal. Competition is a great way to work because it helps you to strive to do better. Collaborating is also a great way to work because you don’t have to do all the work by yourself, you have others there to help you. Even though everyone will see differently on these two, they are both great ways to work and get something accomplished. Sometimes people will disagree about which one is better to work with but all in all, they are both good ways to work and will both help you complete the task.
