School Sports for Sixth Graders?

Are sixth graders allowed to play school sports at your school? Well, at Andrew Lewis Middle School sixth graders aren’t allowed to play sports. However, I personally think they should be allowed to play. There are numerous reasons why I believe this. Firstly, it could help a sports team be successful. It can also help sixth graders get to know upperclassmen. Another reason is it could give a chance for young athletes to get better before they play for high school teams. These are all reasons why I believe sixth graders should be allowed to play school sports.
One reason sixth graders should be able to play sports is that it could help school sports teams be successful. Let’s get more into this. Let’s say that there is a very good player who could seriously help the team, but the player is in sixth grade. For example, what if there is a perfect pitcher for softball, but unfortunately she is in sixth grade? If she was allowed to play the team would have a successful season and possibly an undefeated season. Overall I strongly believe sixth graders could benefit school sports teams.
Another reason is it can help sixth graders get to know upperclassmen. Sports are an amazing way to meet new people. For example, I am on the track team and I met some of my best friends from the track team. Also, it’s a nice way to meet seventh and eighth graders. When you’re a sixth grader it may be intimidating to talk to people in grades above you. That’s why I think this would be a great idea for them to get comfortable with other grade levels.
Lastly, it can give a chance to young athletes to get better before they play for high school teams. Some athletes may seek more time before they go to high school. As you know sports get more intense and serious when you get to high school. From personal experience, I wish I had one more year of track before I got to high school. I say this because if I had one more year to improve my skills then I would be ready for the intense season ahead. As you can see, three years of middle school sports can help you get ready for high school sports.
In all, I strongly believe that allowing sixth graders to play school sports can benefit Andrew Lewis Middle School in more ways than one. One reason is it can help sports teams be successful. Another reason is it can help sixth graders get to know upperclassmen. Lastly, it could give a chance for young athletes to get better before they play for high school teams. In conclusion, this would be beneficial to many people and I hope to see it happen soon.
