Top Music Hits of 2023

     This article is about all the music hits from Pop to Rap. Music is critical to teenagers and young adults because it is a way for them to express themselves and their feelings. This article is also about featuring top artists from each genre. Music is also a way that people and cultures can be diverse and unique to them.

    Pop music has come from many different genres like Ragtime and Jazz. It originated from African American culture. Many other genres and songs have made Pop what it is today. Pop was aimed at young listeners and wanted to be a  softer version of rock. Taylor Swift is the number one pop artist of 2023. With her new album Midnights and re-recorded albums including Speak Now and 1989. She also has one of the top selling tours of 2023, The Eras Tour. Swift has sold more than 13 million albums and has numerous awards and accolades to add to her long list of accomplishments, including being the top-selling digital artist in music history, receiving the Artist of the Year Award at the American Music Awards.  She has albums that cross over all genres and is a pop icon.

    Country music first started in the 17th century when Europeans brought folk music and musical traditions to Northern America.  Country music’s origin is from English, Irish, and Appalachians. Morgan Wallen was the number one billboard 100 of 2023 with his song “Last Night”. Wallen’s music has risen in popularity since his album One Thing At A Time coming out in 2023 and number one on the Top Country Album Charts. Morgan Wallen’s net worth was estimated to be around 2023 after his announcement of his world tour, One Night At A Time World Tour.

     Rap music has changed in the last few decades. Rap arose from the cultural movement, Hip Hop, and emerged to take over the favored music of the 1970’s, orchestra music. Rap music originated from African American culture and skyrocketed in the 70’s and 80’s in clubs, house parties, and on the streets. Ice Spice has become well known around the world with her songs like “Barbie World,” ”Boy’s A Liar,” and “Princess Diana.” Ice Spice also joined Doja Cat on her Scarlet Tour this fall. Ice Spice also just released her new Chia Pet in late October of 2023. She has already had 3 Top 10 Billboard hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Ice Spice also has a birthday coming up in January and will be turning 24.

     R and B started in the 1940’s when it replaced “race music” as a new name for African American Music. R and B helped spread African American culture and popularized racial integration in white society during the 1960s. One of the top stars of 2023 with her album SOS. Her most famous songs include “Kill Bill,” “Snooze,” and “Nobody Gets Me.” SZA’s music has been described as R&B, Hip Hop, and elements of soul. She also finished number one on the top R&B/ Hip Hop artist of the year.
